Q. What is the Filter for the Future grant program?
A. Schools with water contamination issues are forced to spend their already limited budgets on bottled water for their students and staff. To offer schools a better solution, Brita has established a grant program with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a change-making organization dedicated to children’s health.

Through the Filter for the Future grant, schools can apply to receive hydration stations which remove Lead and other contaminants. We will accept applications from July 2 to October 15, 2018 and announce grant recipients in November 2018.

Applications will be evaluated based on the following key criteria:

1. Scale of problem
2. Bottled water needs
3. Total number of people served on-site
4. Current sustainability education or future plans

Check out the full application here.

Q. Who is Brita?
A. We are the #1 Brand in Water Filtration and have been bringing consumers cleaner, great-tasting water for over 25 years. We offer various water filtration products including pitchers, dispensers, filtering reusable bottles, faucet mounts, and replacement filters. At Brita, we want to help you live the Filtered Life by filtering out the bad to get to the good.

This year in particular, we are encouraging consumers to filter out plastic water bottles. Plastic bottles can hurt our wallets and our environment. We established the Filter for the Future program so that schools struggling with water contamination issues can get better water without the waste.
Q. Who is Alliance for a Healthier Generation?
A. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a catalyst for children’s health. We work with schools, companies, community organizations, healthcare professionals and families to transform the conditions and systems that lead to healthier kids. We are partnering with Brita on the Filter for the Future grant program because we want to help ensure that children in school have clean, healthy drinking water. To learn more about us, click here.
Q. Why is it bad for schools to use bottled water?
A. Schools forced to use bottled water for clean drinking water put a strain on their already limited budgets. Plastic water bottles are also wasteful and harmful to the environment if not recycled. By helping schools in need install water filtration systems, we’ll help them filter out the waste and financial drain of plastic water bottles.
Q. How do the water filtration systems that will be installed at schools work?
A. The Brita hydration stations are indoor, wall-mounted units. These stations can replace any indoor drinking fountain. All they require is a water source and an electrical outlet. In most cases, they can replace any existing water fountain. Once installed, students can easily fill up their own reusable bottles. For further information, please see the Brita Hydration Station product information.
Q. What are the details of the grant award?
A. The grant will fund the purchase of a water filtration station for the school. There are $140,000 in total grant funds provided through Alliance for a Healthier Generation that will be split between selected schools.
Q. How many grants can I receive?
A. One grant will be awarded per school.
Q. How will I know if I'm a grant recipient?
A. The decision will be made in November 2018. You will be contacted via the information provided in your grant application.
Q. My Browser timed out while I was uploading my document. What should I do?
A. First, check and make sure you have a good internet connection and high speed internet. Next, see if you can decrease the file size.
Q. How do I combine multiple documents into one PDF?
A. Click here for step-by-step instructions.
Q. I think I’m having technical issues. What should I do?
A. Sometimes it's a simple thing like updating your browser. Check to be sure that you have a modern version of Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Also, you may want to check your browser preferences section to be sure JavaScript is enabled.
Q. I have recently moved or updated my email address. Can I change my registration information for this promotion?
A. We apologize for any inconvenience, but due to the number of entries we receive, we are unable to change registration information unless you are awarded a grant. If you are awarded a grant through Filter for the Future, please contact and provide your updated information.
Q. What else can I do to help schools in need?
A. You can share the message of our Filter for the Future program with family and friends.
